Cultural Diversity brings a collective strength to Global Development programming as it incorporates perspectives and technical information from thought partners from varied backgrounds.
In my experience, there are various times when we need to ensure that varied perspectives are included:
Designing the proposal intervention
Defining the work plans for the field implementation.
Evaluating the impact of the interventions as part of the learning agenda
Conducting impact evaluations after the project has been completed.
If we miss the opportunity to include cultural diversity in thoughts and approach at any stage of the global development process, we may not meet optimum results, we may lack sustainability, and we may misuse precious funds to support vulnerable communities.
Do you ensure Cultural Diversity in your own work?
