I have been reflecting on this question recently, and my conclusion is that I have been part of a diverse and inclusive work environment for my entire career in Global Development. The diversity in people, cultures, mindset, and perspectives has allowed me to grow significantly both personally and professionally.
Maya Angelou said it best, "Diversity makes for a rich Tapestry."
I have learned:
True impact comes from including diversity in perspectives from a myriad of stakeholders.
There are many ways to reach an outcome, you need to keep an open mind for diversity in processes
Solutions are only successful if they come from those affected most and include a wholistic approach to a problem
Diversity in our work makes true progress happen for the long-term.
How do you incorporate Diversity into your work?
